Monetizing your blog has never been an easy task. Well nowadays everyone wants to earn online considering various opportunities available. But one of the major difficulties that come across a blogger is to make people actually click on the advertisements that are available on your blog. Some bloggers pay money to some people to get clicks on their Advertisement. But this is not the right way to earn income. My friend did this trick and unfortunately, he was banned from Google AdSense Program. So, if you want to earn in a right way, you should concentrate on increasing the Page CTR.

Some of you might not be aware of Page CTR. Let me tell you in brief – CTR is defined as the Click Through Rate. In simple words, it is the percentage of number of clicks on ads divided by number of page views of your site. Suppose, 5 people clicked on your AdSense Ads out of total 100 page views, then your CTR will be 5%. The normal CTR should be between 5% to 10% if you want to earn good amount. 1. Ads for real but not look like one

Your advertisements should not look an actual advertisements. It should not be fancy with eye popping colors, images or borders. If you have watched “Die Hard 4″ movie then, you might remember the scene when the innocent hacker bombs the villain hackers with advertisement bombing. So in blogging arena, your advertisements should not look like those attention seeking advertisements.

If you want to win some extra clicks through any advertiser then your ads should be in sync with your content. Today’s visitors are blind to banners, block pop ups, weary of ads and skeptical of contests and giveaways.

2. Changing outlook of your advertisements

Tweaking your ads so that they blend into page and look like content begins with altering their appearance. No one can alter with the code of the ads but Google do provide with wide range of options to alter the advertisements.

One can alter the format, font and colors used in the advertisement. The general principle is to match the characteristics of the ad unit with the characteristics of the Web page on which the ad unit will appear.

3. Importance of color

Log in to your AdSense account, click the AdSense Setup tab, select Get Ads from the menu, and you’ll be offered a page load of options. You can choose to see each of these options one at a time using the “Wizard” or you can go through them all on a single page.

I find that a single page lets me see everything at once but it makes little practical difference. If you’re using the new interface, which is Google is currently rolling out, you just have to click “My Ads” tab followed by new unit.

To create an AdSense for Content unit, you’ll first have to choose between an ad unit and a link unit, and – if you choose an ad unit – whether you want both text and image ads, just text ads or just image/rich media ads.

Once you’ve made your choice (just text ads is a good place to begin) you’ll have to pick a format. You’ll then choose your color palette. An AdSense unit has five elements whose colors can be changed – the border, the title, the background, the text and the URL.

4. Matching text of ads with content

To increase clicks, it is of utmost importance to match the font and font size of the advertisement text with your blog content. Never be tempted to make your ads size bigger or smaller than your blog content. As then they would stand as an independent advertisement. All you need to do is blend them in between your content.

5. Make the border disappear

One simple tweak can make people actually click on the advertisements. Ads with prominent borders make your pages look cluttered. Once again these advertisements can easily be identified. So if they can be identified by your visitors, people will make it a point not to click them. To avoid this match the color of your ads unit border with the background color of the web page. When the border matches the background, it disappears. The page instantly looks neater and the ads more inviting.

If your blog design too has borders then you should make the border of the same color around your advertisements.

6. Intentionally Mismatching

This is one of the brilliant way to get clicks on advertisement. People love to click on blue links instead of any other color. So, if you set blue color as your Ads link, then also you can get more clicks than any other color.

7. Blend your ads in tables

Another killer way to improve your AdSense revenue is – place Ads in tables. This gives a clean and attractive look to your Ads. To place Ads in a table, you can use Easy AdSense Lite plugin if you are using WordPress.
