5 Things To Know While Writing A Killer Blog Post

Killer blog post is something which is very difficult to write. But once you get started, it’s something in which you won’t fail anymore. Every reader needs something unique, something new and obviously, it should be relevant to the niche. As if the reader does not find then anything relevant, he would not hesitate to bounce to another blog.

So, I am revealing some of the tips that I keep in mind while writing a blog post.

My 5 Top Tips For Writing A Killer Blog Post

1. Understanding the Requirement Of Your Readers

When you’re going to write a blog post on your blog, you must keep in mind not to hurt the sentiments of your readers. In blogging, regular visitor is the most precious gift that one can ever get. You should know what your readers like? What your readers would love to read in your blog? Then, you must always write according to their requirement instead of writing something you like and your readers not.

Always focus on your readers. You can do this just by updating a status on your Facebook page to know, On what topic you should write about? Also, you can ask them by creating a community or even through Twitter. These things will help you to communicate with your followers and you will be able to judge as to what your readers expects from you.

Another way to understand your readers is to ask your readers for +1 in Google Plus, more the +1 in your post then your next post could be something related to your previous post only. After knowing all these intricate details, you can start writing to fulfill your reader demands.

But one should keep in mind that if you regularly ask about your “next post” through the use of social media, then there are high chances that your readers might get annoyed. An effective quality conversation would compel readers to converse with you.

2. Write An Informative Title

Writing an informative title is yet another thing to impress your readers. Always try to add a title that has a powerful impact. Such posts have more chances to go viral on social media. Catchy titles are the best way to garner a good amount of visitors from social networks. If you don’t have any idea as to how to write catchy title, then you can try selecting a phrase from a song to use as your title. If you don’t find anything that seems catchy, just make the title as informative as possible.

For example – If you have a blog having automobiles as its niche and you are writing about Lamborghini Aventador J (sports car), then you can begin your post by a popular song that is “break free” from Queens band. As a result, the song goes in sync with the attitude of freedom, breaking the rules that this sports car possess.

3. Share Only Real Things

People love to read about real life stories! Will you be going to that blog which just provide impractical things? NO! You will never visit that blog again. In my case, I love to visit some blogs regularly who publish article based on real experiences. Even if you didn’t experience anything like that but you know what is right or wrong. Then, tell a relevant story related to your post. If you are posting fake things on your blog, then you are going to be killed soon by visitors and by the Google.

4. Post Fancy Pictures Along With Your Article

Images play an important role for making your post amazing. If you want your post to be on top, then you must add some amazing pictures. Let’s talk about my blogger friend Amrik Virdi (MonetizeBlogging). If you visit his blog, then you will love his post photos. He always add SEXY pictures in between the post that will surely catch your eye. Also, every picture in his blog post will be relevant to its content. Now, he don’t blog because of some personal reasons.

So, you should add photos which are relevant to the topic. Well, posting such photos in between the post will make you some what flamboyant. That is not bad until your post remains rich in content. Another example could be the owner of BadBlogger whose tag line (where money and sex are of concern), rich content (numerous guest posts) and everything is so catchy (numerous pictures of models) made me his instant follower.

5. End Your Post With An Advice

A post without any moral is not considered as a great post. Always start your article with the ending in mind. If you know the ending of the story, it can help you form the theme and can help you progress more easily towards the ending. So, always give an advice to your readers what your post is all about and what message do you want to convey. At the end of the post you can ask for any other advice from your readers in the form of comments too.

For example – If you have a tech blog and you are writing about “Top 3 BLU-RAY Players” then the concluding line of the post could be “I hope you all liked my top 3 BLU-RAY players list and I would appreciate if you suggest me your BLU-RAY player in the form of comments”.

    Hey Dhruv,

Well, I think the word “killer post” has been beaten to death and it makes a lot of people extremely uncomfortable. My guest post this month touched on this very topic actually and I have to agree with her.

I think a lot of people put way too much pressure on themselves trying to write the best post ever that people will want to read. I think all we really can do is just be ourselves. When we write in our own voices then we’re much more relateable and or course you always want to be honest with what you share.

It does help if you’re writing something your readers will want to read so doing your research is very important. I don’t necessarily think you have to have fancy pictures but ones that are appropriate to the post.

I think you should end each post with questions. That will help get your readers involved in the conversation and you’ll start getting a lot more comments.

Just my two cents of course.

    Hi Dhruv,

You are very correct with the points you mentioned here. I strongly agree, that the post titles have a great role in making a post go viral in social media and other places. Just for instance think of a title ” Are you sure you want to miss these closely guarded social media secrets?”. Won’t it appeal to the other side of the brain? Would you like to live the rest of your life thinking what could have been written behind that post? I guess not and most of the people will agree with you. So a blogger must and should choose a title very carefully. :)

    Happy Blogging!

I would like to add a point wherein your 3rd point stating add only real things.. I seriously do not think that adding only the real thing will help… Along with the real thing it is a must to add a little twist and turns in terms of writing. If you don’t have a little spice than even the reader will get bored.. Other wise i agree with all your points :)
